Happy new year!
I know some of you mean that in the most literal sense, too.
I wasn’t really sure what to write today, but I knew I wanted to write something. And that’s what I’m going to do this year.
I worry so much about what others think, upsetting people, offending people, lots of different things that are, in the end, a reason not to try. Because if you don’t try, you don’t fail.
But, I recently read something Michael Jordan said that helped change my view point:
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
It’s an awesome sentiment that is finally resonating with me. I feel like it’s okay for me to put myself out there and, if I fail, it’s not the end of the world. You pick yourself back up and try again.
Obviously I’m not going to try and make it as a basketball pro (I’m 5’1) or go for the world record hot dog eating contest (I’m 5’1 and not sure it exists), but, I am going to go out there and be me whether people like it or not.
Most of the time, people aren’t fussed either way and that’s fine by me!
Here’s to a happy and healthy 2017, ya’ll! Let’s work together to make it a great one.
Peace & love, always.
